Jeane B. Odom, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the remarkable age of 97. Born on March 6, 1927, in Big Springs, Texas. Jeane was a shining example of love and compassion throughout her life.

She devoted herself to her family as a housewife, later retiring as a skilled bookkeeper. Jeane and her husband, Jim, dedicated themselves to their church even helping to establish the Diamondhead United Methodist Church as founding members. Jeane was known for her caring nature and profound empathy, qualities that made her a true friend to all who had the privilege to know her. Her greatest joy was her family, and she served as the heart of her household, instilling values of love, faith, and kindness that will undoubtedly resonate through generations. Jeane’s prayers and unwavering faith provided constant guidance to her loved ones, and her legacy of love will endure in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her two children, William N. Odom and Cindy Kenny (David). Her sister, Jane Jordan, mourns her loss alongside her four grandchildren: Hailey Odom (Jennifer Odom), Dillon Kenny (Lindsey Kenny), Katy McDonough (Dwight McDonough), and Alee Gorshe (Danny Gorshe). Adding to her legacy are 11 great-grandchildren: Karma Odom, Kaidan Odom, Ryleigh Barefield, Nolan Barefield, Liam Barefield, Ellie Gorshe, Cooper Kenny, Wes Kenny, Mary Alex McDonough, Hallie McDonough, and Maggie McDonough.

Jeane was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jim D. Odom; her father, William A. Bullard; her mother, Evelyn Bullard; and her infant daughter, Julia Melissa Odom.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Diamondhead Methodist Church, located at 5305 Noma Drive, Diamondhead, Mississippi, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM at the same location.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery, 101 Memorial Drive, Biloxi, Mississippi.

Jeane B. Odom's legacy of love and selflessness will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
