Jean Marie Shirk, age 72, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Shirk had been a resident of Grand Forks, ND and Washington, DC before moving to the coast in 2005. She received a BA in Journalism and a Masters Degree in counseling from the University of North Dakota. She was a member of Grace Luthern Church, Long Beach and had worked as a stewardess for North Central Airlines. Her hobbies included gardening, playing the piano, reading, pottery, and painting.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Shirk and her parents, David and Louella Wentsell.
She is survived by her son, Steve Shirk and his wife, Linda, Long Beach; 3 grandchildren: Samuel, Ada, and Jenna Shirk; and 4 sisters: Suzanne Olson, Karen Juntunen, Jill Eliason, all of MN, and Barbara Pendergrass, of MO. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles; Adrian and Treva Vaksvik, and Bill and Joy Wentsel.
The funeral service will be 4:00 pm Sunday at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach where friends may visit from 3:30 until the service at 4:00 pm.
