Jean Elizabeth Garner, age 81, a longtime resident of Biloxi, passed away on July 5, 2018.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Elizabeth Stearns Inglis; and mother and father-in-law, Grover B. and Lois Killgo Garner.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James H. Garner of Biloxi; three children, Joanna Garner Burleson (Jeff) of Birmingham, AL, Diane Garner Vervaeke (Tommy) of Mandeville, LA, James H. Garner, Jr. of Biloxi, MS; seven grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Sims (Phil), Connor James Burleson, Paige Margaret Burleson, Katherine Ann Burleson, Hayley Elizabeth Vervaeke, James Bell Garner, Sean Michael Garner; brother, Robert George Inglis (Helen) of Carey, NC; sister-in-law, Gloria Garner Levi (Joel); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
After God, her first and foremost interest in life was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her love and support of the men and women of the National Guard. She loved her Guard family and friends and they loved her. To quote her friends, "she was a true Mississippi Steel Magnolia."
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM at Biloxi First United Methodist Church, 14220 Shriners Blvd, Biloxi, MS 39532. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi, MS immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Biloxi First United Methodist Church, 14220 Shriners Blvd, Biloxi, MS 39532.
