Janie Ruth Overcast Mitchell, age 79, of Biloxi, passed away on June 17, 2012.
Janie was born and raised in Shelbyville, TN before moving to Chicago where she raised her family. She loved her garden. Her enthusiasm for animals and birds led her to fill her yard with flowers and food for them. She was a Die Hard fan of the Chicago Cubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Mitchell, and her parents, John E. and Cleo Burgess Overcast.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy L. Mitchell of Biloxi and Linda Mitchell (Dave Sovia) of Naperville, IL; granddaughter, Emily Sovia of Naperville, IL; brother, John Overcast of Biloxi; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, in the funeral home chapel at 11:45 a.m.
Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
