Janice Shearer

On January 12, Janice Belle Cranston Shearer (87) went to be with her Lord, her husband, her son and her mother after a short battle with cancer. After 25 years of traveling the world with her husband in the military and raising her family, she enjoyed many aspects of a nursing career, including orthopedic surgery, doctor's offices, Red Cross and school nurse.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ian C. Shearer, her father, Robert Cranston, her mother, Florrie O'Brian Cranston and her son, Scott Cranston Shearer of Merritt Island, Florida,

She leaves behind to mourn her daughter, Kathleen Phipps of Biloxi, son, Robert K. Shearer (Debra) of Hudson, Wisconsin, a daughter-in-law, Janine Shearer, grandson, Jake Shearer (Fiorella) of Melbourne, Florida, grandson, Michael Shearer (Samantha) of Orlando, Florida and lifelong friends, Marilyn Grant, Mary Helen Morrison and Henry Coolidge.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 9 – 10 am at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.  A prayer service will be at 10 in the funeral home chapel.

A private interment will take place in Biloxi National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
