Jane Hudson Lee of Diamondhead, Mississippi passed away at home on March 19, 2022. She was born on July 11, 1944, in Laurel, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Era Marguerite Sartin and Warren Davis Hudson and is survived by her husband and friend, Eddy Lee. Additional survivors include brother Warren, niece Madelyn Caple, nephew Kevin Caple, nephew Jimmy Lee, niece Sondra Lee, grandniece Leeah Caple, grandnephew Konner Caple, grandnephew Austin Lee and niece Kathleen Elizabeth Hudson.
After graduating from Gulfport High School in 1962, she attended Gulf Park College and the University of Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967.
Jane worked as a clinical social worker for the Harrison County Welfare Department after graduation. She met Eddy at a dinner party in 1969 and fell in love. After Hurricane Camille in 1969, Jane decided to further her education at LSU. Eddy’s company transferred him to Baton Rouge, LA and they were married February 21, 1970. Jane earned her Master’s in Social Work from LSU in 1971 and upon graduation, worked as a psychiatric social worker in Louisiana. In 1974, the Lees moved to Jackson and later to Madison and Jane worked as a social worker for various State agencies including Governor William Allain’s office. After retirement from the State of MS, Jane and Eddy moved to Diamondhead and she continued her career at The Counseling Service in Biloxi.
Jane and Eddy had a wonderful life, marked by differences in politics but love for Mississippi State baseball. Jane enjoyed reading mysteries and attending the Bouchercon Mystery Conventions throughout the USA, Canada and England. She loved her cats and dogs, doing intricate and beautiful needlework and taking boat rides on the Jourdan River. Jane had a special love for her churches, St. Matthew’s UMC and Diamondhead UMC and was active on committees and singing in the choir.

The visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:00 followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM at Diamondhead United Methodist Church, 5305 Noma Dr, Diamondhead, MS 39525.
