Jamie Burk Speaker, age 63, died at her home in Long Beach, Mississippi on November 25, 2011. She was born on December 30, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Robert Burk; her brother, Robert A. Burk, Jr., and grandchildren, Margaret Scott McCormick and John Robert McCormick. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Harry A. Speaker, III; daughter, Elizabeth ""Sugar"" S. McCormick, and her husband Dr. J. Beaux McCormick, Sr. of Gulfport; son, H. Anton Speaker, IV, and his wife Wendy T. Speaker of Oxford, MS; and her three grandchildren, Katherine E. McCormick, Johnathon B. McCormick, Jr., and Harry A. Speaker, V.
Mrs. Speaker was a graduate of Auburn University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a teacher at Quarles Elementary School in Long Beach for 26 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gulfport and the Gulfport Yacht Club.
Visitation will be held at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Commission Road, Long Beach, on Monday, November 28, from 6-8pm.
Burial will take place at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama on Tuesday, November 29 at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the March of Dimes Foundation, 1092 Acadian Drive, Suite 1, Gulfport, MS 39507.
