James Ward, Sr.

James “Jimmy” Ward, age 77, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Jimmy was a resident and native of Biloxi.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Charles C., and Elouise M. Ward; and his two brothers, Charles R. Ward, and Terry D. Ward.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sonia; his son, James E., Jr.; his daughter, Tonia D. Dorsett, and her husband Michael “Mike” B.; his two grandchildren, Myracle Boddie and her husband Corey, and Chase Dorsett; and his beloved pets, “Trixie” and “Brown Dog”.

Jimmy was a true outdoorsman as you could always find him outside tinkering with something or tending the lawn.  He could also be seen riding the neighborhood in his trusty golfcart with his dogs checking on the neighbors and offering assistance whenever he saw the need.  To his friends he was trustworthy and dependable, and enjoyed the many events in which friends and family gathered.  He loved motorbikes, auto racing and Cruisin’ the Coast.  His fire, determination and his love will be missed by family and friends alike.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, with the visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. for family and friends.  Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
