James Doyle Tynes

James Doyle Tynes, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the age of 88.

Mr. Tynes was born September 3, 1936, in Poplarville, MS. He had been a resident of the MS Gulf Coast since 1970. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lyman. He retired from Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula after 30 years of employment. He retired as Major from the National Guard and the U.S. Army after 23 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Faye Lumpkin Tynes; his parents, Marvin Tynes & Mabel Mitchell Tynes from Poplarville; his daughter, Cassandra Tynes of Gulfport; his brother, Larry Tynes of Hattiesburg; his sister & her husband, Jean Ladner & Al Ladner; and his beloved dog Peanut.

Mr. Tynes is survived by his daughter, Lucinda Tynes of Biloxi; his brothers, Don Tynes of Cumming, Georgia, and Charles Ray Tynes of Poplarville; his numerous nieces, nephews and friends; and his faithful dog companions, Boss & Smash.

Friends are invited to join the family for visitation and services on Friday, January 3, 2025, at First Baptist Church-Lyman (14321 Old Highway 49, Gulfport, MS). Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, Mr. Tynes will be laid to rest at Sones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Carriere.
