James B. Torries, age 67 and a resident of Saucier, died on Thursday, April 3, 2008, in Gulfport.
He was a native and lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and retired from Ingalls with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Faithview Baptist Church in Saucier. Mr. Torries loved to hunt and to fish, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Torries was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Bernice Fayard Torries; three brothers, Ernest Torries, Wilford Torries, and Buck Torries; a sister, Doris Saucier; and his wife, June Gayle Torries.
Survivors include his loving wife of five years, Mittie Barber Torries, of Saucier; four sons, J. D. Torries, of Norfolk, Virginia; Jewell Torries, of Saucier; Randy Davidson, of Gulfport; Donnie Haley, of Jackson; eight daughters, Janie Shoppe, of North Carolina; Regina Hansen, of Saucier; Martha Willis, of Gulfport; Lori Scarborough, Christy Paris, both of Saucier; Pam Pifer, Vicki Shelton, both of Gulfport; and Wanda Barbour, of McHenry; two brothers, Ronnie Torries, of Saucier; Harold Torries, of Ocean Springs; two sisters, Peggy Pittman, of Saucier; Shirley Ware, of Gulfport; sister-in-law, Shirley Willis, of Saucier; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, on Saturday, April 5, 2008, from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Torries Cemetery in Saucier.
