James Leo Todd Jr, Chief, USN, Retired

James L. Todd Jr., age 77 of Gulfport, MS went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2025 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. James was born in Mullins, SC on October 7, 1947 and was a 1966 high school graduate of Whiteville High School, in Whiteville, NC. He joined the United States Navy Seabees in 1968 and was a Vietnam Veteran.  James then retired in 1990, after serving 22 years in active Military service. He then became a civilian employee in 1991 and retired from the Naval Seabee Base in Gulfport in 2010, for a total of 42 years of Government service.

Mr. Todd was an active member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church in Gulfport, becoming a Trustee, he is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James L. Todd Sr and Mrs. Beatrice Elizabeth Todd of North Carolina.

James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Elizabeth Todd; their son, James L. Todd III, of Saucier; and daughter, Julie (Randall) Kennon of Highland, IL; three grandchildren, Sarah Ostrowski, Christopher Ostrowski, and Sabrina (Austin) Marie; two great grandsons, Calihan, and Emmett; brother, Douglas (Judy) Todd of North Carolina; and sister, Frances Coleman of South Carolina. James also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, friends, church family, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport (11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport). His Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. Graveside Services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
