James Taylor

Captain James "Jim" Taylor was born on April 19th, 1945, in Van Nuys, California, the son of Marion and Mable Taylor.  He had the good fortune to marry Brenda (Walters) Taylor on August 13th, 1979.  They enjoyed 40 wonderful years of marriage and raised four children: Caroline, Suzanne, Sean and Shelley.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Paul; left behind to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Jim had a distinguished military career in the navy and air force. He received many accolades and commendations through his years of military service in cardiopulmonary care and later in fuel logistics and supply operation management.  He retired a Captain from the United States Air Force in 1992 after traveling the world to such destinations as the Philippines, Guam and Alaska before finding his home in Biloxi.
Jim had a strong connection to his family, past and present.  Ever the family historian, he could often be found with a slideshow of pictures playing in the background and reminiscing on memories past.  He established a foundation for future Taylors by sharing those memories and teaching us the value of family.  He also built a "family" of friends who gathered on Saturday nights to share laughs and friendly games of cards.
Jim appreciated learning new things and made time to influence his children and grandchildren. He could regularly be found with family enjoying a cup of coffee and conversation, spending quality time on projects, playing games and teaching his family about finance and investing.   The life lessons he imparted resonated and will be with us for years.  "Papa" left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to spend time with him, and his presence will be deeply and sorely missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 6:00-8:00pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi.
