James M. """"Pop"""" Story, age 68, resident of Pass Christian, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Gulfport.
Mr. Story was born in Jacksonville, FL and served in the U.S. Navy during Korea and the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He continued serving his country in the civil service as an inspector of war planes until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, he worked for the Diamondhead Country Club and Property Owner's Association and was a member of the 174th Aviation Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearl W. Story; daughter, Tommie Jean Bayford; and a brother, Wayne Story.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Margaret """"Peggy"""" Story of Pass Christian; children, Elizabeth Anne Pierce of Turlock, CA, James T. Pierce of Covington, LA, and Robin O'Dean Wooley of Wildomar, CA; brother, Charles Story of Charleston, SC; aunts, Thelma Pratt of Panama City, FL and Ruth Metzer of Belt, MT; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2006, at Gulf Coast Funeral Homes, Kiln DeLisle Road Chapel, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in the funeral home chapel at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors rendered by the United States Army.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
