James Daulin Smith

Mr. James Daulin Smith, age 68, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, in Gulfport.
Mr. Smith was born in Pascagoula to Daulin and Amanda ""Mandy"" Sanders Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and retired from the Gulfport Fire Department as a Lieutenant in 1990 after 20 years. He owned and operated his lawn care business for 30 years. He loved spending time outdoors with his family, especially fishing, throwing his castnet, camping, and gardening with his grandchildren. He was a compasionate, caring man that went out of his way to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean Baudier Smith of Gulfport; mother-in-law, Grandma Baudier; children, Debra Ann Price (Mike) of Woolmarket, Melinda Ann Smith (Jane Carey) of Gulfport; grandchildren, Michael Price, Jr. and Casey Price, Jason Smith, Max Smith, Kaleigh Smith, Kelsie Smith, Bradley Carey, Carlie Carey, and Daniel Smith; siblings, Mike Smith and Tommy Smith of Columbia, Audrey Braun of WI, and Doris Baines of LA; a host of extended family; and his special friends, Lonnie Moore, Lina and Maxwell Digrazia, Brenda Sisson, Lou and Don Berkowicz, the Louisiana Family, and Joe Caranna. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, his friends and loyal companions ""Molly"" and ""Tippy.""
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 12 o'clock Noon until the funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will be at Floral Hills Mausoleum.
