James W. ""Smitty"" Smith, age 96, of Gulfport, passed away on April 15, 2014.
He was of the Baptist faith, a master mason at Halfway Lodge #852, Halfway, KY, a Kentucky Colonel, and was a lifetime member of AACEM and American Austin Bantam Club.
He is survived by his son-in-law and daughter, Roland and Diane Cowart, his grandchildren, Brent Cowart and Shea Cowart, and 3 great-grandchildren. He also loved his grand-dogs, ""Shasta"", ""Noel"", and ""Austin."" He was known and loved by many.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Lexington, KY.
Memorials may be sent to the Humane Society of South MS, 2715 Hwy 49, Gulfport, MS 39501.
