James David Simmons, born July 4, 1940 in Gloster, Mississippi, raised in Prentiss County with brother Paul and sisters Bertha Mae and Ethel, passed away on May 18, 2022 in Saucier, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Lee and Sudie Jim Simmons; one nephew; siblings; in-laws and second parents Joe and Bertha Turner.
He is survived by his spouse Janice J. Simmons; many nieces and nephews; and sisters in-law, Laura, Sigrid, and Kerry. He is also survived by special friends Irma Dobson, Hilda Ladner, Renee and Nicky Johns and Jarvis Harrison.
He was loved by many, and known by few. He spoke very little because he said his words came out wrong. He loved children and each new child found a place waiting for them in his heart. The last to find their special place were Bethany, Jayden, Cana, Delanie, Ezra and Enoch. He served in the Military Police in the US Army, and retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a Pipe Fitter.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Mullens, Dr. Joel Burwell, and St. Joseph Hospice for respecting their patients.
