James "Buddy" Segroves Sr.

James “Buddy” Segroves Sr., 89 of Ocean Springs passed away on October 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport. He was born on July 11, 1935 in Dallas, TX to the late Arthur “Les” & Martha Segroves. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Margaret Kearney and Nadine Segroves.

Buddy graduated from Woodrow High School in Dallas, TX., and received a Associates Degree from El Centro Community College in Computer Science. At 18 years of age, Buddy got involved in the sheet metal industry. He was the founder and owner of Shop Data Systems, and thus made him the leading expert in sheet metal fabrication. This is where his company designed the computer program to accurately cut and assemble sheet metal, which was revolutionary for the industry at the time. After working in Dallas, Buddy had a plan to move to the Gulf Coast to help build houses on some property he owned. He then decided to make the Gulf Coast home for the last 10 years.

Besides working, Buddy enjoyed fishing, hunting, competitive dancing, and listening to jazz music. He also loved his bulldogs and was a service dog trainer. Buddy was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and a Master Mason at the Grand Lodge of East Dallas.  He was a hard working and devoted father, grandfather, and friend to so many. His legacy lives on in all of us, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Buddy is survived by his children, Jim Segroves Jr. (Yan Ping Zhong) and Kathy Tidball; granddaughters, Michelle Segroves and Julie Segroves. Buddy also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of friends and extended family.

Visitation and Gathering will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Biloxi (274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi).  Graveside Services will be held at a later date at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
