James W. Scott, age 79, of Gulfport, passed away on August 6, 2011 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, F.D. and Ida Mae Scott; and a brother, Joe Scott.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Stigall Scott of Gulfport; and two brothers, Edsel Scott (Dot) of Pensacola, FL and Don Scott (Elaine) of Gulfport.
A native of Lyman, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Lyman where he loved his church family and appreciated their love in return.
He was a Korean war veteran and served with the 2nd Infantry Division, U.S. Army, as a combat medic and later served 4 years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Murray as a gunners mate.
He was a former member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Shipbuilders, and Helpers of America.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Hwy 49 North, Gulfport with a visitation from 9:00 AM until the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
