Master Chief SCW James W. Russell, U.S. Navy, Retired, 67, of Saucier, died June 4, 2007 in Biloxi.
He was born Cimarron, KS and was raised in Cimarron, KS, Dodge City, and Ulysses. Jim was in first grade with Marilyn Arlene Kittle whom he later married in 1959. They were married for 47 years. Jim joined the Navy in 1958, and was discharged in 1962. He joined the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1967 and later retired in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his father Jesse W. Russell, his mother Genevieve Russell-Vest, Grandson Patrick James Russell, and Step father, Edwin A. Vest.
Survivors include his loving wife Marilyn A. Russell; children, Jamie (Glenn) Hatcher, Geoff Hittner, Kevin (Patsy) Russell, Jay W. (Kim) Russell, Skip (LaShawna) Russell, Kelly (Joey) McCormick; brothers, Skip (Maggie) Russell, Crawford (Marilyn Leonard) Russell, and Dick (Sharon) Russell; grandchildren, Tammy (Glenn) Gartman, Michael Dill, Craig (Shannon) Hittner, Kendra Russell, Megan Hatcher, Jesse W. Russell, Kristine Hatcher, Ashley Russell, Brandon Russell; great-grandchildren, Michael Gartman, Cameron Dill, Hunter Gartman; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many wonderful friends that are considered family as well. Jim was a member of the SVA, GWRRA, and AA. He was much beloved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 10, 2007 from 6-8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY'S Gulf Coast Funeral Home, Three Rivers Road Chapel. The funeral service will be Monday, June 11, 2007 at 12:15 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
