James Wiley Pitts

May 23, 1949 — April 11, 2025

Diamondhead, MS

James (“Jim”) Wiley Pitts, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Diamondhead, Mississippi, on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Born on May 23, 1949, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Billy and Mary Helen Pitts, Jim lived a life marked by service, dedication, and creativity. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Jim graduated from Florida State University, where he met the love of his life, Donna, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they were blessed with a son, Jason.

Jim dedicated many years to a successful career with Shell Pipeline before retiring to fully embrace the hobbies and passions that brought him joy. Whether strumming his guitar, perfecting his golf game, or spending cherished moments with his family, Jim’s warmth and humor were ever-present. He especially enjoyed his time watching his grandsons, Austin and Dylan, tinkering around and asking questions about all the interesting items in his shed. Jim’s hands were rarely idle, as he found immense joy in his passion for do-it-yourself projects that reflected his creativity and satisfaction in making his home a special place to live.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Mary Helen Pitts. He is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Donna; his son, Jason, and daughter-in-law Leslie Pitts; his grandsons, Austin and Dylan; and his siblings Dan (Lee), Bill, and Nan.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the lives he touched throughout his life. In honor of Jim’s life, let us cherish the moments we shared and carry their love forward.

Arrangements are private with Riemann Family Funeral Home, Pass Christian assisting the family.
