James "Doc" McCollum, Sr., age 93, passed away on January 29, 2019 in Biloxi, MS. He was born in Kosciusko, MS to Orise McCollum and Martha McCool McCollum.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lena Frances Ammons.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary "Lil" McCollum of Biloxi, MS; one son, James McCollum, Jr. (Deborah) of Mandeville, LA; two step-daughters, Tere Rodriguez (Dan) of Billings, MT, and Shere Murray of Biloxi, MS; grandchildren, Brandon McCollum, Nathan McCollum, Will Loomis, Justin Strickland, Sierra Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriquez; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Goose Lindsay (Lynn); and two nieces, Tracy Riemann and Vicky Deakle.
Mr. McCollum was originally from Port Gibson, MS, lived in Natchez for the majority of his life, and has lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the last 9 years. He served in the US Navy during WWII and worked as a funeral director for over 25 years at Guion Funeral Home. He also worked as a vehicle representative at two different dealerships in Natchez. He was a Duke in the Krewe of Phoenix in Natchez in 1994 and was a very avid Ole Miss and Saints fan. He was also very much a people person.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS with visitation starting at 1:00 PM.
