June 8, 1952 — July 22, 2021

Austin, TX, formerly of Gulfport

James Martin Lyle, IV, age 69, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 in Austin, TX, where he lived. A loving brother, uncle and friend to many who called him Jim, he was born June 8, 1952 in Aurora, CO and grew up in Mississippi City/ Gulfport, MS.
He was a 1970 graduate of Gulfport East High School where he played varsity football as an offensive guard and defensive linebacker. He also played football at Bayou View Junior High, after attending Mississippi City Elementary.
James easily made friends no matter where he was, just like his Mother and six siblings. His career was in restaurant management where he enjoyed training employees and managing day to day operations.
He was an animal lover and found Joy in rescuing, fostering and spending time with his most recent cats, Carmen and Soxie. As a super sports fan, his favorite NFL team was the New Orleans Saints, his favorite MLB team was the Houston Astros, and his greatest pleasure was yelling at the TV for all college and professional football games.
Most important of all, later in life, James accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, found the Lord's light of hope, and ultimately understood the real meaning of Love.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Martin Lyle, III and Joan Lyle, both sets of grandparents, his brother, David Lyle and his sister, Sylvia Lyle.
James leaves behind four siblings, sisters, Christy Lyle (Glenn) Freeman of Starkville, MS and Vicky Lyle (Walter) Hare of Gulf Breeze, FL; brothers, Jon Lyle of Gulfport, MS and Paul (Frey) Lyle of Galveston/Houston, TX; his sister-in-law, Dede Lyle Bartolic of Gulf Breeze, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, two great-great nephews, and many cousins.
Visitation (masks required please) will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS, immediately followed by a graveside service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8910 Carl Leggett Road, Gulfport, MS.
