James (Jim) Hermon Langdale of Ocean Springs, MS passed on to his next great adventure in God’s heavenly kingdom when he peacefully left his home on Thursday August 19, 2021, with his loving wife and soulmate of 62 years, Norma, by his side. Jim’s earthly journey began 85 years ago in Ocilla, Georgia. Jim spent 21-years in service to his country as a proud member of the USAF. His service included tours in Vietnam and took him and his family to locations throughout the world finally bringing him to Keesler AFB in 1972 where he and his family settled in Ocean Springs, MS. In 1976 Jim retired as a Master Sergeant and became a Safety Specialist with Mississippi Power for 18 years. Jim’s next retirement allowed him to enjoy his passion for traveling throughout this country in his RV with his beautiful wife. It was not unusual for his two sons and his grandchildren to join him and Norma on some of these travels. His love for his family was always evident and he was a hero to his sons and father figure to many that came to know him.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jont and Rose Langdale, his brothers, John and Fred Langdale and his grandson Denver Carlson.
Jim is survived by his wife, Norma Langdale; his two sons, Michael (Amy) Langdale and Derek Langdale; his grandchildren, Libbi Miller, Dylan Langdale, Trace Langdale, Christin Harrington, Jessica Steffens and James Cross; and his great-grandchildren, Addison Stewart, Stella Miller, Brents and Helms Harrington, Eli Wilson, Lex and Mae Steffens and Cali Cross.
