Mr. James Alton Knight, age 78, resident of Saucier, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, January 22, 2011.
Mr. Knight was born in Smith County and was adopted by Edgar T. and Winnie Walker Knight as a small child. He retired from Roy Anderson Corporation after 26 years as a Superintendent. His specialty was masonry. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Saucier where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher for the Senior Class. He was very much loved and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Strong, Eddie Johnston, and Johnny Strong.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Myrtis L. Knight of Saucier; children, Karen Ladner (Wayne) of Katy, TX, James E. Knight (Martha) of Saucier, Jerry M. Knight of Kansas City, KS, and Terry L. Knight (Dora) of Saucier; brothers, Buford Strong of Lubbock, TX and Dean Strong of TN; 11 grandchildren, Aubrey, Keri, Tammy, Lisa, Ginny, Bobby, Marion, Jimmy, Laedenia, Amanda, Blake; and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior at church.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
