James "Jim" Kennedy

James C. Kennedy, age 74, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 in Gulfport, MS.
He was born on December 24, 1940 in Tylertown, MS. Raised in Angie and Stateline, LA and he attended State Line Church.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by parents, James Austin Kennedy and Elsie Williams (Kennedy) Morton; his brothers, Kendall Kennedy and Wendall Kennedy; his sister, Brenda Stockstill; and his grandparents, James Frank & Rilla Kennedy, and Clemon W. and Esma Williams.
James leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Polly May Kennedy; his children, Shelia Weeks Ross, Michael Weeks, Austin (Brandi) Kennedy, Lynnette Weeks Hulen and Robin (Lars) Bjornson; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
At the age of 15, he started driving trucks delivering gravel so that the causeway could be built. Jim served 3 ½ years in the Louisiana Army National Guard until October, 1956. He then began his 20 year career in the Air Force in June, 1960. After his retirement, he continued on in civil service for an additional 15 years at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS. He held a variety of positions within Communications that allowed him to enjoy many countries around the world over the years.
He was hard worker, loved gardening, fishing, barbecuing and was a member of Bel Aire Baptist Church.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport from 9:30-10:30am, and a service at 10:30am in the funeral home chapel. A second visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 in Winfield, AL at Miles Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00am. The service there will be at 11:00am in their funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, Winfield, AL.
