James Earl Hancock, 76 of Saucier, MS, was born in Monticello, MS on August 31, 1938 and passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Hancock, and son, Johnny Hancock. He leaves behind two daughters, Jerri Turan of Saucier and Jeanna Wentler of Colorado; three sons, Jim Hancock of Texas, Dennis Hancock of Kansas and J.D. Hancock of Saucier; two brothers, Jearl Hancock of Gulfport and Eddie Hancock of Saucier, as well as numerous step children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He has worked on the Gulf Coast for more than 50 years including Gulf Paving, Bond Paving, Williams Paving, and Rocking C Truck Lines before starting his own business, J & N Trucking Co. He retired in 2010, and began a new adventure at Dogwood Golf Course which he enjoyed walking the course each morning.
His knowledge of the history of the coast will be missed by all who enjoyed his story telling.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Cemetery in Long Beach.
