James ""Jimmy"" Bernard Esposito, age 43 and a resident of Pass Christian, died on Monday, April 7, 2014, in Gulfport.
Jimmy began his career in law enforcement in 1992. He started his career at the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and was there for 17 years. He then went to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office in 2009. During his tenure, he held the positions of patrolman, narcotics officer, K-9 officer, shift sergeant, shift lieutenant, and swat team leader. He retired in 2013, due to his medical conditions.
Jimmy was an excellent husband, father, son and mentor. He made a huge impact to every single person with whom he came into contact. He strived to be the best that he could be and was a great role model and leader to his team, family and friends. He was extremely caring, kind, humorous, had a rough side when needed and lived his life to the fullest. He has left many memories for people to cherish and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Deidre, daughter Shelby, son Dakota, stepson Scooter, stepdaughter Kelsi, mother Mary, father Jimmy, step-mother Tammi, sister Amanda, former K-9 Dax and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 1:00pm at Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
It was Jimmy's wish that donations be made to the Harrison County Deputy Sheriffs' Association at The First Bank (228-248-8000), 15513 O'Neal Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, served the family.
