Mr. James Russell ""Rusty"" Deen, 44, of Gulfport passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, in Gulfport after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Deen was born December 5, 1966, in New Orleans, LA. He was a graduate of Long Beach High School. He was a retired electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 903 in Gulfport. He had been previously employed as an electrical engineer at the NASA Army Ammunition Plant and as an engineering tech with NAVFAC at Stennis Space Center. He attended Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Long Beach.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Deen.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Lori Deen; his sons, Jared and Jacob Deen; his dad and stepmother, James and Brenda Deen, all of Gulfport; his sisters, Rhonda (Jack) Glenn of Niceville, FL, LouAnn (Bubba) Cox of Brandon, and Pam (Bobby) Church of Columbia, SC; his brothers, Randy (Kelly) Deen and Mike Rau, both of Long Beach, and Walter (Sandra) Alexander of Saucier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME in Long Beach, where friends may call from 4-6 p.m. The Rev. Milburn Mallette will officiate.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the oncology floor of Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and Dr. Edwin Davidson and staff for their compassionate care during this most difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.
