James Henry McClantoc, Sr, 86, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 30, 2008, in Gulfport. As a long time resident of the MS Gulf Coast, Mr. McClantoc resided in Gulfport and Pass Christian and he was also a previous resident of Bayou LaBatre, AL in his younger years.
Mr. McClantoc worked in the fishing industry all his life beginning as a young lad and was a member of the US Coast Guard in the 1940s. He spent his entire life on the MS Gulf Coast and in Bayou LaBatre, AL, enjoying his love of fishing, gardening, family and friends.
Mr. McClantoc was preceded in death by his parents, Jason Charles McClantoc and Lena Amison McClantoc; children, Ellen McClantoc, Norma Jean McCormack, Patricia Ann Walker, Alex Ray McClantoc, and Claudia Fay Derwin; and siblings, Leonard Luther McClantoc, Mary Margaret Lambard, Julia Rainey, and Evelyn L. Jordan.
He was survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Frances McClantoc of Gulfport; children, James H. McClantoc, Jr., of Bayou LaBatre, AL; Alice Marie Ladnier (Stephen), of California; Walter McClantoc, and William McClantoc, both of Mobile, AL; stepchildren, Ann Bethea (David), Jamie Nutt, and Kelly Barlow; 39 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 31, 2008 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, 11213 Hwy 49 from 5 to 7 p.m. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2008, at The Church of God at 1 Seal Ave, Bayou LaBatre, AL, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with a service immediately following. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bayou LaBatre, AL.
