CPO James Carlyle """"Jim"""" Chapman, 73, of Long Beach died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 in Long Beach.
Mr. Chapman was a native of Hutchinson, Kansas and had been a resident of the coast since 1968. He served in the U.S. Army and later joing the U.S. Navy where he retired after 37 years of service and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. While in the Navy, he received numerous awards including being awarded a Purple Heart. Mr. Chapman enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies at the """"ten acres"""" and especially playing with his best friend, his dog Bobo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Chapman, and his parents, Hobart and Ella Chapman.
Survivors include his children, Brenda Chapman, Donnie Chapman, both of Long Beach, Becky Jo Chapman, Kansas, Beth Chapman, Grand Bay, AL, Don Chapman, Defuniak Springs, FL, and Stephen Chapman, Orlando, FL, 1 sister, Velva Kitch, Huthinson, KS, 2 grandchildren, Ricky Chapman, and Jessica Phillips, both of Long Beach, and several other friends and relatives.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 31, 2006 from 12 - 2 pm at the Riemann family's GULF COAST FUNERAL HOME, Three Rivers Road CHapel, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
