MSgt James aÌ‚â‚Å“Jimâ₝ Burger, USAF, Ret., age 67, of Gulfport passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. Burger was a native of St. Louis, MO. He was a graduate of Central High School located in St. Louis, the oldest high school west of the Mississippi. He earned a BS in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, TX. He went on to retired after 24 years of service from the United States Air Force. He served in both Korea and Vietnam, concluding his career at Keesler Air Force base and opting to remain a resident in Gulfport.
Jim was a Past Patron of Coast Chapter #51, Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member and served as Master four times at the Gulfport Masonic Lodge #422. He belonged to the York Rite and a member of the Joppa Shrine Temple. He also enjoyed card playing with his near and dear friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Stella Hall and Edward Burger, and his son Roger Alan Burger. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Burger; his daughter-in-law Shelia Burger, his son Douglas Martin Burger, six grandchildren, Justin Burger, Jessica Burger, Geoff Burger, Greg Burger, Amanda Burger, Garrick Burger, five great grandchildren, his sisters, Grace Katzenberger, Doris Ried, and twin sister Louise Brooker; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss their aÌ‚â‚Å“Uncle Jimmyâ₝.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
