MSgt James E. Allen, USAF, Ret, age 72, of the St. Martin community, Biloxi, passed away on October 7, 2009 in Biloxi, after losing his battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred P. Allen; his brother Kenneth R. Allen; and his sister, Rosemary L. Brehm.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin P. Allen of Gulfport and Michael L. Allen and his wife, Rhonda, of McHenry; his mother, Virginia L. Allen and his sister, Donnavie Wodke and her husband, Mel, all of Kansas; his grandchildren, Stephanie Allen and Noah Allen; his step grandchildren, Brittany McInnis and her husband Shane and Sarah McFadden and her husband Marlin; his step great grandchildren, Lucas McFadden and Aubrie McFadden; and his ex-wife, Geraldine E. McBroom of Vancleave.
James (Jim to his friends) was born in Horton, KS and graduated from Junction City High School in Kansas in 1956. After graduation Jim enlisted into the USAF and while stationed at McGuire AFB in New Jesery, he met and soon thereafter in 1961 married Geraldine E. Medio. In 1963 their first child was born (Kevin P. Allen). In 1967 while stationed in Germany the couple had their second and final son (Michael L. Allen), just 6 months later Jim and family were given transfer orders to report to Keesler AFB, where he spent the remainder of his military career. He retired in 1981 from the U.S. Air Force after twenty two years where he served in the Vietnam War and received many commendations and medals for his service. He loved his family and he enjoyed reading his newspaper, crossword puzzles, yard work, and washing his car.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery.
