Jackie Lastorka

Jackie Lastorka, age 67 and a resident of D'Iberville, died Monday, December 6, 2010 in Biloxi.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Baxley.
She is survived by her husband of forty nine years, Edward Lastorka, two daughters, Patti Lastorka and Christi (Mike) Cardwell, both of D'Iberville, one son, Jack (Kerri) Lastorka of Mobile Alabama, and four grandchildren, Meagan Cardwell, Michael Cardwell, J.T. Lastorka, and Caleb Lastorka, and two brothers, Joe Baxley of Mount Vernon, Washington and Jerry Baxley of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Jackie dedicated her life to the service of others working as an LPN in the Critical Care Unit at Gulf Coast Community Hospital. Her ambition and excellence in medicine allowed her to be the first LPN to administer I.V.'s in the coastal hospitals. Jackie was selected and completed the inaugural class of Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Jackie believed you must be involved in every aspect of your children's lives. She volunteered as the school nurse and served many times as an officer in the PTA. She served eight years as a D'Iberville High School Band Booster. Jackie also served as a member of the Baseball Boosters at D'Iberville High School. Her years as a Girl Scout leader guided many young girls within the community.
What Jackie enjoyed the most was watching her granddaughter dance and her grandsons play ball.
Friends are invited to visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi. The funeral service is 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the ASPCA or the American Diabetes Foundation.
