Captain Donald Jack Woodcock, Gulfport Police Dept., Ret., age 75, of Biloxi, died Monday, May 18, 2009 in Biloxi.
Capt. Jack was a lifelong native of the coast and attended LSU. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later joind the Gulfport Police Department. Captain Jack worked his way through the ranks and retired as a captain in October 2000. During his 30 year career at GPD, he was instrumental in training and mentoring hundreds of officers that now serve is various capacities on federal, regional, and local agencies. He will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Marie Woodcock; his parents, Clinton and Mamie Woodcock; 1 brother, Kenneth Algin Woodcock, and 1 sister, Millie Odenia Cristovich.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred """"Mickey"""" Woodcock; 3 children: Donna W. (Al) Fox, Donald Jack (Gina) Woodcock, Jr., and Robert Neal (Tina) Woodcock; 3 brothers: Clinton Harold Woodcock, Thomas Houston Woodcock, and Huey Pierce Woodcock; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow, with full police honors, at Evergreen Gardens, in Gulfport.
