Jack D. Melton

MSgt Jack Donald Melton, USAF, Ret., was born in Lexington, Mississippi on July 29, 1930. He went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2008.
His parents, Fred and Blanche Melton, his brothers, Elmer and Fred Melton, all of Jackson, MS, and a brother-in-law, Roy Cleveland of Osyka, MS preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Florence Melton; daughters, Carolyn Neblett and her husband, John (Bear), and Melonie Melton, all of Gulfport, MS; Sheila Krohn and her husband, Paul, of Albany, GA; Darlene Hophan and her husband, Richard, of Gulfport, MS, Johanna Lott and her husband, Lamar, of Saucier, MS; sons, Stuart Beach and his wife, Janet, of Grass Valley,CA, and Frankie Liles and his wife, Kenda, of Kelso, WA; grandchildren, Shane Warden and Annie Guthrie, and Sydney Ros, all of Gulfport, MS, Lisa Ross and her husband, Hank, of Leesburg, GA, Angela Krohn of Albany, GA, Christina Hophan of Gulfport, MS, Jason, Lindsey, and Katlyn Lott of Saucier, MS, Nicole Liles of Biloxi, MS, Kelly and Sabrina Beach of Grass Valley, CA, and Kyra Liles of Kelso, WA; two great-grandsons, Lane Hamilton Guthrie of Gulfport, MS and Jackson Henry Ross of Leesburg, GA; three sisters, Ann Cleveland of Osyka, MS, Lorraine Shearer and her husband, Bufford, of Raymond, MS, Evelyn Clark and her husband, Don, of Crystal Springs, MS; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Melton, of Clinton, MS.
He was a charter member of Cowan Road Baptist Church and a very active member until the last few years.
He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant after 20 years of service, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals, and various other military awards, and was a retired supply technician from the Naval Oceanographic Office in Bay St. Louis, MS.
He received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland in College Park, and a Master's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.
Friends are invited to visit from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi. The Celebration of Life service will be at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
