Jack Hannula

July 26, 1945 — June 23, 2021

Gulfport

Jack Burton Hannula, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, in Gulfport, MS. Jack was born on July 26, 1945, to Jack and Jean Hannula in McComb, MS and lived in Magnolia, MS as a young boy. He grew up in New Orleans and went to John Dibert Elementary School and Alcee Fortier High School. He was very active in the High School Band playing the trombone and was so good, he was awarded a scholarship to Northeast LA University for his merits. He also attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. He was then drafted by the US Army and went to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Jack's exemplary service in the US Army 25th Infantry Division Tropic Lightning Brigade as an E5 Sergeant garnered him two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars, one with Valor. Upon returning home he worked for Genuine Parts Company and started a family. In later years he moved to Biloxi, MS where he and his wife spent decades as owners of a Napa Auto Parts store and a second one in Gulfport many years later. He was an avid football and baseball fan and never missed watching his Saints or Braves play! He sure could get all worked up if either of his teams weren't winning!! He loved telling bad dad jokes and his sense of humor was like no other. Not to be denied, Jack's dance moves would have everyone busting a gut over those unique moves! We sure are gonna miss him and his silly sense of humor!
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara J. Hannula, children, Jennifer Ricard (Sean) of Denham Springs, LA; Paige Wall (Bob) of Biloxi, MS; Mark Henagan of Pineville, LA; Mike Henagan (Cindi) of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Bayleigh Ricard, Reagan Ricard, Jheri Brechtel (Wesley), Hailey Rushing (Gregory), Cassidy Shore (Zack), Charlie Wall, Cheree Henagan, Mark Lane Henagan, Ayden Henagan, Destiny Collier (Jack), Sarah Beth Henagan, Alex Henagan; great-grandchildren, Nolan Brechtel, Brantley Bordelon, Preesley Henagan, Abbigail Sheppard, Gage Michael Henagan, Charlotte Collier (on the way); brother, Barry Hannula (Brenda), brother-in-law Rick Hollan; niece Heather Mocklin (Jeff), and nephews Brian Hannula (Erin) and Ross Hollan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Jean Hannula, a sister, Sandra Hollan, and daughter-in-law, Deanna Henagan.
