Jack "Pop" Green

July 31, 1925 — March 15, 2012

Jack H. Green (Pop) 86 of Gautier, MS passed away March 15, 2012 at home surrounded by his family who adored him.
Jack was born July 31, 1925 in Fordyce, AR where he was raised by loving parents, Henry and Dotia Green. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard, Gilbert, Henry, Balor, and sisters, Alma and Delmer.
He left Arkansas early in his life, moving to the Gautier-Pascagoula area at the young age of 15. In Gautier, he met his wife, Dorothy Evelyn Thomas, to whom he has been married for 67 years. Pop always enjoyed working, often involving his family in his many small business ventures. He worked for many years in the oil field industry, during these years they lived in several states and South America.
Pop had a passion for all sports, especially the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Braves. He loved fishing especially on his shrimp boats on the Gulf and bass boats on Toledo Bend Lake, LA where he built a thriving RV Park. Pop loved people, especially children. He was always kind and gracious.
Pop is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Evelyn, his son, Jack (Wanda), a daughter, Shirley Chelette. Grandchildren: Eddie (Jenny), Steven ""Spud"" (Jennifer), Stacey (AJ) Lalley. Great grandchildren: Jordan, Alex, Emily, Emma Joy, Garrison, and Paige; Sisters, Ilene (Bob) Jeffers, Betty Jo Talley and Brother, Tony; favorite cousins, Sadie Lou and Gary.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Pierre's Episcopal Church, 4412 Gautier-Vancleave Road, Gautier, on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 4:00 pm. The Reverend Hunter Isaacs will officiate and The Reverend Deacon James Henry LeBatard will be assisting. The visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, especially Leslie, Amber, Sue and Randy. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Southern Care Hospice, 8195-A Woolmarket Road, Biloxi, MS 39532 or Saint Pierre's for a lasting memorial.
