Irma A. Joyner, age 90, resident of Gulfport passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2011 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Joyner was born June 12, 1921 in Toca, LA. She was a graduate of St. Francis deSales Catholic High School in Gulfport. She was a member of the Altar Society and a former Eucharistic Minister at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, a good cook, and she enjoyed spending time with her husband and close friends while camping.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Joyner; father, Joachim Rodriguez; mother, Ruth St. Amant; and brothers, Irvin and Nolan Rodriguez.
Survivors include her daughter, Paulette (Pete) Siegel of Gulfport; sons, Michael (Prissy) Joyner of Gulfport and Joey (Paula) Joyner of Gulfport; grandchildren, Pete (Julie) Umbdenstock of Gulfport, Justin Joyner of Gulfport, and Jerrod Joyner of Gulfport; and great grandchildren, Hayden and Avery Umbdenstock of Gulfport.
The family would like to thank the staff of Driftwood Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice for their care and support.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Gulfport. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
