Mrs. Irma Laverne Gardner Skinner Farmer, age 82, of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
Mrs. Farmer was born in Forest, MS to Joseph and Elizabeth Hall Gardner. She married Riece Skinner and moved to the Coast in the early 50's. She was a hardworker and raised four children. After Mr. Skinner's passing, Mrs. Farmer met and married Will Earl Farmer. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gulfport, where she was very involved in her Sunday School and other works of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Riece Skinner; and two siblings, Yvonne Briscoe and Billy Joe Gardner.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Will Earl Farmer of Gulfport; children, Larry Skinner (Linda) of McComb, Joanne Simmons (Pete) of Gulfport, Debra Vernon (Mike) of Hattiesburg, and Faith Fleming (Randy) of Hurley; brother, Leon Gardner of LA; grandchildren, Josh Thibodeaux, Miranda Paniagua, Andrea Jackson, Tara Stambaugh, Patrick Skinner, David Vernon, Daniel Vernon, Jessica Nobles, Kristen Vernon, and Riece Fleming; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Olivia, Ryker, and Sullivan; and a loving family of in-laws and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, at 11:15 a.m. Friends are invited to visit two hours prior to services.
Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 17430 Landon Road, Gulfport, MS 39503, or to a charity of one's choice.
