Ida Norwood, age 82 and a resident of Long Beach, died on Sunday, November 7, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Norwood was a native and lifelong resident of the MS Gulf Coast. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star, Chapter 306, in Long Beach. She retired with Sear's after 41 years of service.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Cora Volking Gifford; her husband, Robert Mims Norwood; her son, Durand ""Randy"" Norwood and a granddaughter, Nicole Norwood.
Mrs. Norwood is survived by her son, Robert ""Dusty"" Norwood of Hitchcock, TX; her sisters, Gertrude ""Trudy"" Gifford Newland of Long Beach, and Estelle Gifford (Bradford J.) Jackson of Webster, TX; her grandchildren, Jim Norwood, Tracy Siller, Valerie Eubanks, and Anna Norwood; several great grandchildren, and other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 208 Pine Street, Long Beach, MS 39560.
The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
