Ida Nell Lewis, age 86, of Gulfport, went to heaven on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. She was a native of Collins, MS and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1950. She was homemaker, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport for over 50 years and was active in many functions including the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class. She enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. Nell was well known for her specialties including divinity and chicken/spaghetti. She was happy sharing her talent with others.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Frederick J. Lewis, her parents, R.B. and Pearl Knight of Collins, MS; and four sisters, Verl Dossett, Jo Barber, Christine Ray, and Louise Faler.
She is survived by a son, Fred H. Lewis, and his wife, Marilyn of Gulfport; three grandchildren, Steve Lewis and his wife Tina, of Daphne, AL, Suzanne Alfonso and her husband Andy of Ocean Springs, and Richard Lewis of Gulfport; five great grandchildren, Bradley and Trent Lewis of Daphne, Al, and Alden, Ethan, and Caitlin Alfonso of Ocean Springs. She is also survived by three sisters, Gladys Hobdy of Lucedale, Evelyn Knisley of Rawlings, MD, and Jeanette Riley of Purvis.
A visitation is planned at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd. on Sunday, August 10, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
