Hurland "Red" Dale Lyon

Hurland “Red” Dale Lyon, 85 of Vancleave, passed away on October 23, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 25, 1939 in Harrisville, MS to the late Archie & Lula Lyon. Red is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Lyons; granddaughter, Ashley Moran; and his siblings, Louise Smith, TJ Lyon, Earnest Lyon, Johnny Lee Lyon, Junior Lyon, and Emil Lyon.

Red grew up in Harrisville, MS and went to school there. In school this is where he met, Shirley and they were married on August 28, 1959. Red joined the United States Army, and proudly served for 6 years. After serving in the Army, in 1965 they moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Red started working for Ingalls Shipyard and eventually retired. 

Red enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing slots. He was a member of Spring Hill Church. Red was a 50 year member of the Gautier Masonic Lodge. Red was a loving and devoted, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to so many. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Red is survived by his loving children, Connie (Steve) VanAlstine, and Steve (Connie) Lyon; grandchildren, Amber (Galen) White, Jason (Jisook) Moran, Lauren Moran, Josh (Magan) Lyon, and Kelsey (Charlie) Lyon; great grandchildren, Jonathan Lyon, Conner Lyon, Luna White, Willow White, and Cora White; and sister, Pernecie Welch. Red also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Spring Hill Church (4500 Gibson Road, Ocean Springs). His Memorial Service will begin at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Spring Hill Church.
