Mr. Hugh Liberty Warren, age 88, resident of Long Beach, died on Monday, January 25, 2010, after a long battle with chronic kidney disease.
Mr. Warren was born in Marion County and had lived in Long Beach for over 20 years. He served in the US Army during WWII, and following the war, worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He then worked for Amerada Hess Petroleum Company as a land surveyor for almost 30 years. Mr. Warren retired as a land surveyor for Harrison County in 1990. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, which he dearly loved. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, crossword puzzles, outdoor grilling, and loved football. He was a very talented small engine repairman. He was a mathematician and liked to think he was a master of the English language.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Carolyn Pasicznyk Warren; parents, Liberty Edward and Bessie Pittman Warren; son, James Warren; brothers, Cliff and John Warren; sister, Emily Warren.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Kuntz of Long Beach and Susan Horsley of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Blanche Clements of Gulfport and Betsy Mehl of Thibodeaux, LA; grandchildren, Kari Lynne Kuntz, Alexis Lee Kuntz, Melanie Ann Warren, Sean Edward Horsley, William Liberty Borg; great grandson, Caleb Liberty Borg; special friend, Hazel Erhard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 28, 2010, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Warren Cemetery in Sandy Hook, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Rebuild St. Thomas Fund, P.O. Box 1529, Long Beach, MS 39560.
