Hubert Newitt Turan, age 86 and a resident of Gulfport, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mr. Turan was a lifelong resident of the coast. He was in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a pilot for the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Turan was a retired truck driver and enjoyed history and reading.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Lee Turan; his parents, Hubert and Lela Turan; and his grandchild, Hubert Ray Turan, Jr.
Survivors include his wife Connie Turan, of Gulfport; son Ray (Carla) Turan, of Gulfport; brother Harmon Turan, of Gulfport; and four grandchildren, Shelly Gaboury, Sumer Dunkleberger, Valerie Brewer, and Tara Hunt; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 10:00 AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport.
