Howard Groom

Howard Eugene Groom, age 88, of Biloxi, passed away on July 10, 2022, at his home.

Howard was a native of Elmira, NY and a resident of Biloxi, MS.  He received two master’s degrees one in education and one in music.  He was a U.S. Army Medic in Korea from 1951 to 1952.  He was honorably discharged in 1952.  Howard was a guidance counselor for 30 years while in Massachusetts then retired.

Howard loved reading and spending time with his family.  He took 36 cruises in his life with his wife.

Mr. Groom was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence E. Groom and Edith L. Taggert.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Susanne Groom; his children, Susanne Sheldon (Jon), Marc Howard Groom, and Eric Follansbee Groom; his siblings, Evelyn Brown, Carol, and Theodore Edmister; his grandchildren, Kathryn (Dill) Dunn and Scott Tillis; and his great grandchild, Grayson Tillis.

Howard was the best friend and father ever.  He was kind, caring, loving and compassionate.  He made you want to be a better person.
