Homer Taylor

d. January 8, 2020

Long Beach

Homer "Mickey" Mitchell Taylor, age 81, of Long Beach, went to our Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Memorial Hospital Gulfport, MS. He fought a valiant battle with cancer and was surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Willie Mae (Patrick) Taylor; his children Dwight (Mitch) and Tammy Taylor; his siblings, Jean Brown, Kathleen Brown, Doris Allsbrook, Robert Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Rudisaile Taylor; two daughters, Tina (Chuck) Lehman and Sandra Goodman; two granddaughters, Larissa (Robert) Fletcher and Danielle (Chuck) Thomas; three grandsons, Anthony Mann, Billy and Michael Lehman; five great grandchildren, Sophia and Elena Fletcher; Danyon, Gavin and Mason Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend L.C. Walley.

Mickey was born in Laurel, MS, then moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he met and married the love of his life. They were married for 53 years.

He was a brilliant, highly-skilled auto and boat mechanic and self-made business man. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Mickey enjoyed traveling and fishing. His boat could often be found at Chandeleur.  The girls fondly remember many family vacations. He grew a large garden in the back yard and shared his bounty of vegetables with the neighbors.

Whenever there was a vacant home on the street with overgrown grass, you would see Mickey riding his mower down the street to cut the grass. He took great pride in his own yard as well as the street. No one could ask for a better friend and neighbor than Mickey Taylor. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Alison Wall for everything she did for Mickey. It was greatly appreciated.
