Hilton Wayne Fornea, 89, passed away November 26, 2008.
Mr. Fornea was a native of Pearl River County, MS and had been a resident of Biloxi since 1948. He attended Pearl River Junior College in Poplarville, MS, where he met his future wife, Corrine Ladner. He then attended Mississippi State University for a year before being drafted into the Army during World War II, where he served as an x-ray technician in the European Theatre. After discharge from the service, he completed his degree at Mississippi State. Mr. Fornea then took a job on the coast with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a seafood inspector, and worked some time with Dejean Seafood Packing Co. After retirement, he worked for the Mississippi State Board of Health in Harrison County.
Mr. Fornea was a member of the First Methodist Church in Biloxi, having served on the Board of Trustees, Administrative Board and usher. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Biloxi Health and Social Services. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Mr. Fornea was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine Fornea, two brothers, and five sisters.
He is survived by one son, George Fornea of Spring, TX, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Methodist Church, 14220 Hwy 67N, Woolmarket, MS 39532.
