Herman Hutchinson, 56, resident of Lizana, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in Gulfport.
Mr. Hutchinson was born January 31, 1950 in Covington County, MS. He was a member of Lizana Baptist church and was a volunteer fireman from 1985 until 1990. He became a full time fireman on May 15, 1990 and served 16 years with Harrison County Fire Service.

Nevertheless, the Harrison County Fire Service deemed Hutchinson's actions on that October day to be above and beyond the call of duty, surprising him Monday night with its Medal of Valor and Paid Fireman of the Year for 2000 award.(February 6, 2001 Sun Herald)
Mr. Hutchinson in preceded in death by his father, Zollie Hutchinson; his mother, Rena Reeves; brothers, Leonard Hutchinson and George Hutchinson; sisters, Nellie Saulters, Irma D. Wilcox and Ona Scurlock; and a granddaughter, Hali Herrin.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda Hutchinson of Lizana; daughters, Carol Herrin of Saucier and Christy Hutchinson of Lizana; three sisters, Nell Kennedy of Prentiss, Pat Hutchinson of Metairie, LA; brother, Willie Hutchinson of Prentiss; five grandchildren, Blaze Roberts, Brittani Hutchinson, Ashlee Herrin, Summer Herrin and Kira Hutchinson.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 30, 2006 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Gulf Coast Funeral Homes, Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow at Finley Cemetery in Lizana.
