Herbert J. LeGrone, 86, of Gulfport, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 in Gulfport.
Mr. LeGrone was a resident of the Coast since 1945. One of his proudest accomplishments in life was being a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in WWII, where he completed 65 missions in the Air Offense of Europe as a B26 Flight Engineer and a Tail Gunner and was part of the Air Support of the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He worked for 60 years in the automobile industry, retiring in August, 2005 from Bert Allen Pontiac. He was a long-time member of Gulf Gardens Baptist Church, where he formerly served as Sunday School Director and was a member of the choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche LeGrone; parents, Walter and Alma LeGrone; brothers, Wilson, Archie, Noah, Pete and Howard, his identical twin; and his sister, Alma Mae Holman.
Survivors include his two daughters, Lynda Bass and husband, Gene, and Jane Arms, all of Long Beach; five grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Bass, Jamie and Jessica Arms, and Ricky Luckett; six great-grandchildren; and special in his heart, Mike & Nidia; and Debby and Roxanne.
The funeral procession will leave from RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach at 10:15 a.m., Monday, January 7, 2008. The Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gulf Gardens Baptist Church, 1401 37th Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501.
