Herbert Scott Bliler, age 85, of Diamondhead, MS died Saturday, May 16, 2009 in Diamondhead.
Mr. Bliler was a native of Blue Mound, IL and Illiopolis, IL and has been a resident of Diamondhead for 17 years. Mr. Bliler was a veteran of the US Army and served in Okinawa during WWII, where he received a purple heart. He graduated from the Univ. of Illinois, taught for six years, then worked for the Post Office in Illiopolis, where he retired as Postmaster after 37 years.
Mr. Bliler was a 60 year member of AF&FM Lodge and a 50 plus year member of the American Legion. He was an active member of the Illiopolis Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Virginia Lee Bliler; brother, Halden Bliler; infant brother, William A. Bliler; and parents, Edmund and Haldene Scott Bliler.
Mr. Bliler is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marilyn Bliler of Diamondhead; his 5 children, Beth O'Rahilly (Daniel) of San Diego, CA, Julia Scibona (Nicholas) of Morton, IL, Jill Bliler of Bourbonnais, IL, William A. Bliler (Kathi) of Lake in the Hills, IL, and Tricia Bliler of Bay St. Louis, MS; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Megan, and Amy Scibona, and Griffin and Dakota Bliler; sister, Rosaline McKeever (Ray) of Illiopolis; brother, James Bliler (Nell) of Shelbyville, IL; and sister-in-law, Marilyn A. Kmetz of Mt. Vernon, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Library System.
The graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS. The funeral procession will leave at 10 a.m. from the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian, MS. The online guestbook may be signed at www.riemannfamily.com.
